Sept 24th Meeting in OC a Smash Hit!

  • Our Sept 24th Orange County Area Meeting on "Why Should I Partner with You?" was a resounding success! 
  • Ever challenged by trying to forge a close relationship with your business customers?  Well, we hope you attended our Sept 24th meeting!  The topic was all about how IT and the business can forge a tighter partnership, and 21 people turned out to attend.
  • Our speaker, Jim Thomas, was very engaging as he talked about his real-world experiences, and the presentation was very well received. It will be repeated at SoTEC in Long Beach Oct 23-24, so be sure to catch it there if you missed the meeting!

  • Join us for our next SFV Area workshop. Roc Paez, our esteemed Roc Paez, President and HP consultant/trainer, will be speaking on how to design your Incident Management process to find and uncover improvement opportunities while analyzing ticket activity.

  • Oct 23-24, Long Beach - SoTEC Conference - Save these dates in your calendar to attend the fall Southland Technology Conference (SoTEC)!  
  • Your itSMF LA LIG is supporting and will be participating in the upcoming Southern California Technology Conference.  We were at last year’s SoTEC conference, and it was such a great success that we couldn’t pass up the chance to participate in a BIG way this year!  We have four (4) presentations planned!

  • Mark your calendars and plan to attend Fusion 2015 in New Orleans.  An email inviting people to speak will be going out in a week or two.

2015 Member Survey Results


Here are the final results from the 2015 member survey.  We had 36 responses, which is about a 23% response rate - not bad for a survey.


Recap of results:

  • When asked “Which itSMF LA areas are most popular for meetings?”, respondents replied:

                OC area

  • Asked what other sorts of meetings you attend, members replied that they  typically attend

                Other - 1st place

                Followed by PMI meetings,
                then HDI meetings

  • The main reason for members to attend by far is “to learn about the topic”, followed by “learning from the speaker”, followed by “networking
  • When asked “When is the best time for a meeting”, respondents replied Thursday is best, along with evening meetings
  • When asked about which times of the year were not so good for meetings, respondents replied “Nov-Dec is the worst time for meetings”, followed by “July-August”
  • Members felt that “charging” for a meeting was a consideration whether or not to attend
  • Members also felt that “Dinner served” is an incentive to attend
  • The most popular topics to present included: ITSM/ITIL core practices, followed by complementary practices, cybersecurity, Agile, etc. 
  • Other suggestions for future meetings included:  

     Workshop oriented sessions, 

     "Real world: implementation case studies

We want to thank you for your participation in the 2015 member survey.   Our board is taking all of this into consideration during out Nov 24th planning session, which will be the forum for planning next year’s meetings and events. 

New RESILIA Best Practice Being Rolled Out by Axelos

Axelos has announced the rollout of

ITIL Practitioner is being developed to help organizations and individuals increase the value they obtain from using ITIL by offering additional practical guidance to adopt and adapt the framework to support the business. It will be the next step after ITIL Foundation for professionals who have already learned the basics of IT Service Management (ITSM) and the business value of well-designed and delivered services. It will help guide them through the practical side of successfully applying the theory in the workplace.

Earn PDU Credits for attending itSMF LA Meetings!

ItSMF USA Members will earn Professional Development Unit (PDU) continuing education credits when they attend an itSMF Los Angles LIG Meeting.  To claim your PDU credit, report your attendance at one of our sessions under “Category B – Continuing Education”.


Pickup up a “certificate of attendance“ before you leave our meeting, along with any handouts from the presentation delivered at the meeting.  When reporting, supply:

  • Date and title of itSMF LA LIG even
  • Hours spent attending the meeting (typically 2)
  • Number of PDUs being claimed:  2
