The itSMF Healthcare SIG is a group of IT professionals in the healthcare delivery industry who share a common interest in IT Service Management (ITSM) and in the advancement of industry-leading best practices that deliver service to healthcare providers.

What is our purpose?

  • To plan and conduct educational programs that promote an understanding of ITSM, supporting processes and technologies
  • To provide members opportunities to share ideas and exchange experiences in the field of healthcare IT through meetings and networking events
  • To assist members of this Chapter and others in developing their knowledge, increasing their effectiveness, and maintaining high-quality standards of performance throughout the industry

The newest Special Interest Group devoted to discussion, development, and adoption of IT

Service Management principles in support of institutions of higher education.

What is our purpose?

The Higher Ed SIG will provide opportunities to share with – and learn from – colleagues at other universities that are implementing IT Service Management using ITIL (and other related best practices).

While implementing ITIL processes makes sense for any IT shop, we are all well aware of the challenges which differentiate the academic and corporate environments. By listening, learning and sharing, you and others will benefit from participation regardless of your organization’s current stage, whether it is in the discovery process, mid-process implementation or with well-established processes.

Here are a few things we hope to offer in the future:
   *   Live webcast events
   *   Pre-taped sessions on process fundamentals
   *   National on-site event (e.g., EDUCAUSE or itSMF conference)
   *   On-line reference showing what other universities are doing (currently at www.technology.ku.edu/pdm/resources).

Sign up to be a member by contacting us via email.  Initial forecasts are to conduct our first public meeting in January/February with additional sessions occurring in late-May, July/August and October of the same of 2009.

We expect this SIG will foster communication and collaboration amongst IT service management colleagues across many universities and aid the improvement of business and IT processes through the sharing of knowledge and experience.
