“ITSM has been the center and heart of business for many years. As the hub and brains behind business process it is only right that the professionals working in it be certified and credentialed. The program was recently previewed by sponsors of itSMF USA in order to determine the level of interest, with exciting results. According to HP’s Service Management profession’s global lead Angela Chin, “Unlike mature professions such as Law, Medicine, or Accounting which have been around for hundreds and sometimes thousands of years, IT is a relatively new profession. For example, the Medical profession has well-established professional boards to certify and recognize qualifications of individuals who practice in that profession. In the past few decades, the business world’s demand for IT has pushed IT to mature as a profession,” she said. Ms. Chin went on to say, “The first important steps included the creation of ITIL®, which documented the best practice collected over the decades into a Library. As the IT profession matures, the vision of priSM will take IT to the next significant milestone. It will provide the world with a formal framework to credential, recognize, and establish IT professionals in a foundational service industry. In my role as HP's Service Management profession's global lead, I believe this credential will provide a structure for people to advance in their career in IT,” Chin concluded. Angela Chin, HP’s Service Management profession’s Global Lead
