How to Join itSMF USA


Welcome to itSMF USA, where you will find all the resources you need to connect, learn and grow your career.

 

Joining itSMF takes just a few easy steps.  To follow these instructions easily, we suggest you open a second browser window so you can follow along as you go through these steps.

Step 1:  Create Your USER ID for our website:

  • Click on the graphic that reads "Not A Member Yet?"
  • It will direct your browser to a tab that reads "Create New Account"
  • Fill out the screen completely, being certain to select the Local Interest Group in which you wish to participate
  • Click on the submit button at the bottom of the screen

 

Step 2:  Log into the website

  • Using the login box on the left side of your screen, use the USER ID and password you just created to log in

 

Step 3:  Join itSMF USA

  • Click on the menu option "Account Services" in the new box at the upper left side of the screen (this box has replaced the login box you just used)
  • Click on the selection "Online Membership Join"
    • Read and accept the Member Code of Ethics
    • Complete the additional information requested, then click on the "save" button to proceed
  • Select your desired membership, using the following information as a guide:
    • Individual non-voting membership is available to members of a company who has purchased a special unlimited voting member benefit on behalf of their employees.  To see if you are eligible, click here to view the listing of companies who have this benefit available.  It will take 3-5 days for your membership to be approved. 
    • Individual voting membership is available to anyone with interest in joining itSMF USA.
    • Student Membership: this is a non-voting membership for current students only and provides all the same benefits as a non-voting membership at a reduced price.
    • If you have a special promotion code, enter it in the box provided. 

  

Step 4: Checkout and complete payment for your membership

  • Click on the checkout box at the bottom of the next screen (if any of the information is incorrect you may use the "update" button to change it).
  • On the next screen, confirm your order
  • You will now be taken to a payment screen:
    • If you select "submit payment" you will be asked to complete a few screens in order to submit a credit card payment. Please rest assured that this transaction runs in an encrypted window and is fully secure. Memberships processed this way will take effect immediately.
    • If you select pay by check your membership will take effect 3-5 days after our receipt of your check.  The screen will provide the address to which you may send your payment.
    • There will also be an option to view your invoice.  When you do so, you can use your browser's standard print option to print a copy for your files.

Additional Information:

Under Account Services, you can view your invoice history to pull up and print a copy of any invoice at any time (this includes membership, event invoices, invoices for joining priSM etc.). Simply select "Invoice History" to proceed.

You can also use the "Pay Open Invoice" option when your membership is up for renewal.  To renew, simply go into this option and pay the open invoices.  Once again, you can view the invoice and print it if you need a copy.

You may also access "Individual Profile" or "Additional Membership Details" to update your contact information, select a new Local Interest Group or edit any of the information the system has on file for you. You may do this as often as needed.
