Major investments in time and resources have been made to become “ITIL compliant”. Many companies have adopted an IT Service Management (ITSM) framework based on ITIL® (IT Infrastructure Library), COBIT or ISO/IEC 20000 as the reference framework for IT Service Management practices.
Implementing an IT Service Management framework takes years to institutionalize. There are benefits to knowing where your processes stand during the implementation. The goal is to have good process that provide value to the organization while becoming more effective and efficient. The goal of performing periodic assessments is to measure progress against corporate goals and perform adjustments and changes to the overall environment and plan if necessary.
These efforts become more valuable if you know how well your investment in a structured ITSM framework is supporting your business objectives. Assessments allow you to measure and know how well your IT service providers perform against ITSM benchmarks and maturity models.
This presentation will discuss the basics of performing an ITSM assessment.
