In fact, - Studies have shown that companies with well-defined, structured IT governance outperform those that don’t.
- A comprehensive understanding and application of IT governance is critical to the success of any enterprise.
Although the term "IT governance” is part of the vernacular of virtually all IT organizations, it is generally misunderstood. This lack of understanding has led to widely varying implementations of the discipline, most of which are incapable of ensuring reasoned and rational technology decisions. Steve's presentation provides organizations with a comprehensive understanding of the Power and Promise of IT Governance. Jeff Westcott – Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory "IT is changing things all the time” - Implementing Change Management at LLNL. Your customers are shouting "IT is changing things all the time” and yet (fortunately) they don't see what goes on "behind the scenes”, i.e., - those unplanned, unauthorized, conflicting and sometimes colliding changes preceded by multiple communications originating from separate organizations that are simultaneously implementing uncoordinated changes in roughly the same physical space (many of which are emergency changes); all of which make your customers unhappy and your infrastructure incident prone and not very reliable. Jeff will guide us through the trials and tribulations (and the successes) encountered in this very difficult implementation. And by doing so, Jeff will provide us with a recipe for doing difficult things well. The challenging project context: - A complex organization with little process maturity or governance, which was further
- No central authority and multiple independent and co-equal functional organizations,
- A highly diverse technical environment and
- Minimal knowledge about best practice frameworks such as ITIL.
This project was initiated to - address contractual requirements,
- improve overall management of IT changes and
- increase customer satisfaction of enterprise IT services delivered from the CIO Organization
The objectives are to: - Improve the IT service environment by minimizing the impact of changes on the business and
- Maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the IT organization to process changes
