This presentation gives a brief overview of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) process improvement methodologies. Lean is a set of principles and techniques for transforming business processes to increase speed, minimize waste, and maximize customer value. Simply, lean means creating more value for customers with fewer resources. A lean organization understands customer value and focuses its key processes to continuously increase it.

LSS layers on top of and complements ITSM. Because LSS helps companies by shortening cycle times, reducing waste, lowering defects, and reducing process variations, it can be applied to ANY repeatable business processes, e.g., manufacturing, software development, procurement, IT, HR, business development, accounting. Even a company that has a mature incident management process will find that applying LSS techniques could shorten the time for incident resolution or reduce the number of incorrect incident diagnoses or reduce the variation in how the incident details are recorded, and so on.

Topics to be covered are:

• History of Lean

• Benefits of Lean

• Attributes of a Lean Enterprise

• Principles of Lean

• Waste

• Mistake Proofing

• Kaizen
