ABC of ICT

Coming Soon to a LIG Near You...

We are working with our Local Interest Groups to make a fantastic opportunity available across the country.  Several board and staff members have been trained in delivering the ABC of ICT Roundtable Discussion and Workshop and are now travelling to our LIG's to deliver it locally.

Title:  ABC’s of ICT

Abstract:

ABC is like an iceberg, much of it hidden beneath the surface and yet capable of inflicting enormous damage to your IT organization, or more importantly, your business!  ABC stands for the ‘Attitude’, ‘Behavior’ and ‘Culture’ of IT organizations. It is the ABC issues that are preventing many IT organizations from realizing the benefits of ITSM improvement projects. A recent Forrester report revealed 52% of such initiatives fail because of resistance.

Frameworks alone, such as ITIL, ISO, CobiT are not enough. Unless the ABC issues are addressed there is a strong possibility that deploying such a framework will fail.  This is an interactive session in which a number of small teams will be given a number of exercises to perform using the ABC of ICT worst practice card set. This card set contains 57 industry recognized worst practices. This session is intended to stimulate dialogue and discussion amongst participants, the aim is to identify the most common ABC worst practices and the consequences, impact and risk to your organization. Delegates will gain an insight into the hidden ABC issues within their organization and can also discuss experiences in dealing with these worst practices. The results and findings will be captured and shared with all itSMF members. At the end of the session we will share with you the shocking top 10 worst practices captured by more than 1000 delegates worldwide.

These workshops have been conducted throughout the world and have been well-received.  We are excited to champion the effort to bring this value to our members through the LIG network.

If you are interested in bringing this activity to your LIG, please review the following points:

  • Schedule flexibility:  Please let us know approximately when you would like to hold this event via email to Bob Hudecek with dates and times for your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices.   While every effort will be made to accommodate your request, we may ask to move dates around to enable us to  keep administration costs low and meet the needs of all LIGs.  We will also work to pair board members and staff up with LIG’s that are close to their area to keep travel costs low.

  • Attendance limit:  the maximum number of members we can effectively facilitate in this workshop is 24 (4 groups of 6).  We can expand this if there are local trainers that are familiar with the ABC work who can assist in facilitating the groups.  We recognize that many LIG meetings regularly exceed 24 individuals, so kindly indicate the average number of meeting attendees who you believe would participate so that we can work together to ensure adequate facilitation.

  • Other Logistics:  while we will provide the facilitator and materials needed for the workshop, we do  need the LIG to  manage  all of the logistics  for a typical  meeting , including  local publicity for the event.

  • Have fun:  it’s time to renew the energy and excitement that will make itSMF USA the leading  itSMF chapter in the world.  Let’s start with this event!
